David Bowie Exhibit at the Brooklyn Museum

Ashes to Ashes was one of my other favorite parts of the David Bowie Is exhibit at the that opened yesterday. It was fascinating to see his crazy clown outfit in person. But even more fascinating was the way he illustrated the crazy trippy video. The whole concept, idea for projections on little panels, the scene with him in the sketched water and trippy color scheme was his idea. Which he illustrated in colorful little drawings and spelled out in detail for the director. I had no idea Bowie was such a visual artist as that he was so involved with the videos and visuals in his work. The exhibit has his sketches for the the sets for his shows, the idea of the bandages and button eyes in the Lazarus video, some original paintings, little sketches around the lyrics he hand-wrote for songs and so much more.
